Real numbers, not a form you have to fill in to see a price. Pool size, tree cover and whether you have a screen enclosure move you inside these ranges.

How a recovery works

Why do Miami pools go green in 48 hours?

Up north a pool gets a winter off. Here it never does, so algae season is twelve months long and summer storms do the rest. This is the usual run of it from a Tuesday afternoon downpour.

  1. 0h

    The storm hits

Two inches of rain into a 15,000 gallon pool. Deck and lawn run off carry phosphates straight into the water, and phosphate is food for algae.

  2. 12h

    Chlorine drops

The rain diluted what was in there and the next day of sun burns off more. Free chlorine slides under 1 ppm, which is the line where sanitising stops.

  3. 48h

    You can see it

Algae has food, warm water and no chlorine in its way. The walls feel slick, the water goes cloudy, then green. That fast, in July, every year.

Weekly service is not about the pool looking dirty. It is about never letting chlorine sit at zero long enough for this to start. If yours is already there, green pool recovery takes three to five days.

Questions we get on the phone

Straight answers with real numbers. Same ones we would give you standing in your driveway.

Most Florida homeowners pay $120 to $200 a month for weekly full service with chemicals included. Chemicals only runs $80 to $120. A single visit is $150 to $350 depending on how bad it is. Big pools, heavy tree cover and open decks push you toward the top of those ranges.

South Florida runs a little higher than Orlando or Jacksonville for one reason. We clean twelve months a year. There is no November to March slowdown here, so a Miami route costs what a Tampa route costs plus the extra chlorine our sun burns off.

See what changes your price

Once a week, all year, if you are in South Florida. We never get a real winter, so algae never takes a break. Every other week is fine in Ohio in January. In Miami it means your pool spends half of every month drifting out of balance.

Chlorine burns off fast under this sun. By day nine or ten without a top up, free chlorine in an average uncovered Miami pool is usually under 1 ppm, which is the point where algae stops being a maybe.

What a weekly visit covers

Yes, and plenty of people do it well. You need a real test kit, about 45 minutes a week, and safe storage for acid and chlorine. Budget $50 to $80 a month in chemicals. The work is not hard. Staying on schedule through July is the hard part.

Here is where do it yourself goes wrong in Miami specifically. People use tablets all summer because they are easy, and cyanuric acid climbs past 100 ppm by August. At that level chlorine is still in the water but it barely works, the test strip reads fine, and the pool goes green anyway. The fix is a partial drain and refill. The other one is vacation. Nine days away in August, with an afternoon storm dropping phosphates in every day, is enough to turn a clear pool green before you land. If you do it yourself, get a neighbour to throw in a gallon of liquid chlorine mid trip.

Or hand it to us

Cleaning is the cheap part. Figure $120 to $200 a month for service, or $50 to $80 in chemicals doing it yourself. The pump costs $40 to $90 a month in electricity. A pump motor or a heater will eventually cost more than a whole year of service.

The expensive pools are the neglected ones. A green recovery is $350 to $700, a stained plaster job runs into the thousands, and a burnt out motor from a clogged basket is around $600 installed. Weekly service is mostly insurance against those three.
