Ficus and black olive, all year
The street trees through the Hammocks are mostly ficus and black olive, and both of them shed something almost every month. Black olive is the annoying one. The little fruit stains concrete decking purple and it stains plaster if it sits, and the leaf litter is small enough to slip past a coarse net and into the pump basket.
That means the pump pot matters more here than the skimmer basket. Small leaf debris passes the skimmer and packs the pump basket, and a packed pump basket starves the motor. We clear both every visit and we listen to the pump before we leave, because cavitation from a clogged basket is audible long before the motor fails.
